Can I provide my event DJ with my personal CDs if there is a certain selection I would like played?
Yes. Our initial consultation is designed to ensure that we know exactly what music you want played on your wedding day. We will play your personal CDs as requested.
Is the DJ willing to mix it up a bit?
Will you perform ethnic standards, like the hora or tarantella, if requested? Absolutely!
Our DJs are very experienced and comfortable accommodating ethnic requests.
Will the DJ work with a partner/assistant/dancers?
Typically our DJs work alone but you can certainly request additional DJs or dancers.
Will the DJ provide his or her own sound system or does my reception site need to supply it?
Music 1 DC will provide the sound system for your event. We update our equipment every year to ensure that you have the best possible sound quality for your wedding day.
How much room will the DJ need?
Will the DJ need a table? Our DJs need one 6ft table with a small space behind it. We use a minimal amount of space to ensure that you have the biggest dance space possible for your event.
How much time before the event will the DJ need to set up?
We will set up at least 2 hours before your event and with site permission we will have a sound check 1 hour prior to your event.
Is there a minimum number of hours the DJ will play?
How many breaks does the DJ typically take? All Music 1 DC rates are based on our DJs playing 4 hours for weddings. You can retain the DJ for longer on an hourly basis.
What will the DJ wear?
The standard Music 1 DC dress is a dark suit and tie, however our DJs will dress according to your request.
How much does the DJ charge?

PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ
Frequently asked questions answered by Music 1 DC featured photographer Russell Hirshon.
What is your fee?
Wedding Photography rates vary by the length of the event and the amount of time you need the photographer for. For a detailed
list of the rates visit the photogrpahy pricing page.
What do we get in way of proofs?
You will receive all film proofs (unmarked) and will be given all of the negatives as well. Digital Images are presented on a CD in full size. Digital pictures are also uploaded to a photo site of your choice (Ofoto and Snapfish are recommended) where you can share the pictures of your wedding with friends as well as order copies at industry rates and very good quality.
What kind of camera and film do you use?
I use several cameras for shooting weddings. This gives the bride the benefits of film, digital or the combination of both.
I shoot with the Nikon D-2X digital camera. This will allow me to present you with hundreds of photos without the restrictions of film.
Other cameras include the medium format Mamiya 645 AFD where the negatives are 2 1/2 times larger than a 35mm negative,
as well as a Hasselblad 502C medium format film camera and lastly the Nikon F5 35mm film camera. Lots of cameras means lots of choices and I can help you
decide what single camera or choice of cameras will work best for your wedding.
Will it be Russ Hirshon taking the pictures?
The pictures on this site and in Wedding Books presented are those of Russell Hirshon. He will be the photographer covering your
wedding unless otherwise negotiated. In some cases an assistant may accompany him depending on the event and the circumstances. You also have the choice of a second photographer/ backup photographer. If this is the case we will base that cost on the amount of time and coverage needed.
How many shots are candids and how many are posed?
Most brides like a totally candid wedding but it is important that you have the option of a combination of both candid and posed
pictures or all candid. During our initial meeting we will discuss your needs and allow you whatever combination you prefer.
Scheduling our posed pictures will give you the most flexibility during your event and free you up to enjoy your evening sooner.
How many rolls of film do you shoot?
When shooting digital, there is no limit on the number of pictures taken. When shooting posed pictures and portraits I can shoot film on request
and manage film carefully to get the best pictures possible while at the same time capturing the desired shots. I can also shoot as much
film as you prefer but keep in mind that film is a per roll expense.
Do you have problems traveling outside of the Washington DC Metropolitan area?
Traveling is not a problem and I will go wherever the party is. Travel costs may need to be addressed if the driving
distance is more than 1 hour driving time away from Washington DC. I have photographed weddings as far away as St Tropez France,
Cairo Egypt and closer to home such as Richmond Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina.
When do I put the deposit down, and when is the remainder due?
Photography costs are addressed in our Rates Section. A %50 deposit is due with the contract signing and the
remaining balance is due seven (7) days prior to your wedding date.
How soon do I get my wedding pictures?
All pictures will be delivered within 30 days although it is usually within 14 days. Digital pictures are usually sorted and uploaded for your review within 7 days. Film prints are usually developed within 7 days and digital copies of film prints are uploaded within 10 days. The wedding Album is usually ready within 4 weeks.
